Rental Housing Registration

The City of Perham enforces a Rental Housing Ordinance (click here to view Chapter 151 of the City Code).  This ordinance was passed to ensure that housing units meet minimum safety and health standards and to provide a system for ensuring that both absentee and local landlords correct deficiencies and properly maintain rental property within the City.

All rental housing units regardless of single or multi units, must be registered with the City. This can be done by submitting an application to City Hall. The exception to this is hospital units, nursing home units, retirement homes or other units owned by an agency of the government.  All rental units are required to be inspected every three years. Every owner of rental property that sells or transfers rental property, must provide the name, address, and phone number of the new owner to City Hall.
